Winter Care for Our Hens
During the winter months, our hens are sheltered and kept happy with an organic, non-GMO diet. During this time, they contribute to a natural bedding system known as a “carbonaceous diaper.” This system involves the continuous layering of carbon-rich materials, creating a compostable bedding that retains warmth and comfort for the hens. At the end of the season, this bedding is removed and spread onto fields as nutrient-rich compost, enhancing soil fertility, boosting microbial life, and supporting regenerative farming practices.
